Incorporating “Wind Phone” into class at Harvard University

On October 28, in Nippon Television’s “The World’s Most Wanted Class”, Harvard University in the United States took up “Wind Phone” in a class to learn about Japanese culture from 2018, and a life class to learn from the disaster area Tohoku. Was told that would start.

A Harvard student said, “Japanese people value the bond with the deceased, so I want to stay connected even after death.” “I want to learn what it means to face death and move forward,” he said.

Already, “Wind Phone” has been taken up independently in elementary, junior high and high school moral classes in Japan, and what is “importance of life”, “weight of life”, and “respect for life”? Thinks with the children and learns “do not ruin life” and “what it means to live”.

The book “Wind Phone” describes these things in detail, and I think it will be a hint for Harvard students and those who are serious about their own way of life. Please pick it up and read it over and over again.

Book “Wind Phone” read aloud on CD, requested by Iwate Prefecture

I received a phone call from Mr. Ogasawara, one of the secretaries who was introduced in the “Kamaishi Welfare Council for the Visually Impaired Gathers Bell Gardia  KUJIRAYAMA” released on October 13th. “I enjoyed this meeting very much. Thank you for comparing various things this time and understanding the differences that I could not understand well just by explaining. And today, Chairman Nakamura from Iwate Prefecture I sent a wind phone book to the section in charge of the book and asked for a reading CD. “

It made me happy to be able to get close to their feelings. Even so, I hope that my book “Wind Phone” will be made into a reading CD so that more people will understand the activities at Bell Gardia KUJIRAYAMA and that it will be a friendly society for everyone.

Kamaishi Visually Impaired Welfare Association gathered at Bell Gardia KUJIRAYAMA

On October 8th, the rain on the previous day stopped and it was a perfect day for sports. The name of this gathering is a sports tournament for people with disabilities, but I accepted it because it was okay to take a walk around Bell Gardia KUJIRAYAMA.

It was my first time and I thought about what to do and spend half a day happily. Although visually impaired, other senses of hearing, touching, smelling, and tasting are the same as those of healthy people. If you think so, you should be able to play various games. Play that you can’t do anywhere else. Have fun listening to the “Wind Phone” CD, try using “Wind Phone”, babbling streams, singing birds, and being sensitive to the sound of the wind. Have them listen with good hearing. As for the touch, walk through the garden to check the feel of the lawn, the moss, and the fallen leaves. In the experience of sniffing, the scent differs depending on the type of rose, the scent of herbs and conifers, the strength of the scent, the sweetness, and the spicy scent. In the experience of tasting, all the people with disabilities and caregivers experienced the menu of sweetening coffee and cake, eating fig fruits, drinking hearty and enjoying each taste.

In particular, the experience of walking on moss made me feel like a carpet and was a surprise. As for the odor, it responded sensitively and sniffed out more subtle differences than we felt.

It is indescribable that visually impaired people also have different levels of understanding of Braille translation depending on whether they are congenital or acquired, and the degree of imagination differs greatly. Recently, he said that he often listens to read aloud books on his PC rather than Braille books. Even so, when I listen to it, I fall asleep on the way, so I also say that Braille books are better in such cases.

It was a short time of only half a day, but what pleased everyone is that it will add a new page to the activities of Bergadia Kujirayama in the future.

We want to be with you as long as time permits, “anytime, anyone”, which is the concept of Bell Gardia KUJIRAYAMA.

Picture book “Kaze no Denwa” Braille translation book donated

On September 6th, Mr. and Mrs. Kenzo Tsuda, Vice-Principal of Hachinohe Sei Ursula Gakuin Junior High School, visited Bell Gardia KUJIRAYAMA from Aomori Prefecture. His wife, Keiko, was a teacher at a regular school, but one year she applied for a transfer to a blind school and taught at a blind school for about two years. She says she studied Braille hard during that time. She then returned to regular school and she was retired.

She came up with the idea of Braille translation from the time the picture book “Kaze no Denwa” was published in 2014, and she finally completed it after many failures. She wanted to donate her Braille picture book to the library in the forest, and she took a train from Hachinohe and delivered it for more than four hours.

She talked about her own experience, saying, “Blind children are very spiritual.” She enjoyed talking with Mr. and Mrs. Tsuda, and it was soothing.

It is often the case that “Wind Phone” that are not connected to each other seem to be connected in the minds of many people. On September 19, I received a phone call from Mr. Ogasawara, a visually impaired person in Kamaishi City (visited about a year ago), and on October 8th, I was informed that he would like to take a walk in the garden as an event for the visually impaired. On the day of the event, he said, “We will go with 10 visually impaired people and 10 healthy people with us, for a total of 20 people.”

I am looking forward to seeing who and what kind of encounters will be on the day. Anyone who is interested in meeting should participate and enjoy themselves.

“Wind Phone” Oculus Rift begins shooting

Thomas and Barry, who worked for Discovery Channel in the United States, became independent to create the work they intended, and established a company called “Yes Please Thank You” (YPTY) .

It is said that it will supply images to the head-mounted display for VR (Virtual Reality) developed and announced by Oculus, USA. It was released to the general public in 2016 in the United States. It is said that 1 million units are a field that has grown rapidly to 5 million units in 2017.

Unlike the reports of incidents and disasters, “Wind Phone” lost an important person, and it was doubtful whether “Wind Phone” used for mental care would play its original role in VR. There is the power of “field”, and I think that you can feel “healed” by standing in the place, feeling the surrounding air, wind, smell and sound, and the total power. I was afraid whether the part that was the trigger to get out of the grief as a result of them could be expressed in 360 degree VR by drone.

However, there are many people all over the world who are suffering and suffering. Most of the people will not be able to come to the “Wind Phone” in reality, and I hope that those people will heal their sorrows even in VR, change their consciousness from the grief, and help them “live”. It was to be.

It will be completed around November and will be released on the VR-only Internet “Oculus Rift”. looking forward to it.
